The 4Cs, without the jargon
Cut, colour, clarity and carat — what actually changes how a diamond looks on you.
Cut matters most for sparkle. A well-cut smaller diamond will outshine a poorly cut larger one.
Colour grades run from D (colourless) to Z. Anything in the F–H range reads as white to the eye once set in gold.
Clarity describes inclusions. SI grades are eye-clean in most jewellery sizes; VS and VVS matter more for solitaires.
Carat is weight, not size. A 0.25 ct diamond set in a halo can look larger than a 0.40 ct solitaire.
