- Purity of gold out of 24 parts. 22 KT is 91.6% gold, 18 KT is 75%, 14 KT is 58.5%.
- Hallmark
- The BIS certification stamp confirming gold purity, with a unique HUID.
- HUID
- Hallmark Unique Identification — a six-digit code traceable on the BIS Care app.
- Making charge
- The cost of crafting a piece, quoted per gram or as a percentage of gold value.
- Wastage
- A traditional charge for gold lost during crafting, now usually folded into making charges.
- Pave
- Small diamonds set closely together so the surface appears paved with stones.
- Prong setting
- Metal claws that hold a stone, letting light in from the sides.
- Bezel setting
- A metal rim that surrounds the stone; secure and modern-looking.
- Solitaire
- A single diamond, usually above 0.30 ct, set on its own.
- Clarity
- Diamond grade for inclusions: FL, IF, VVS, VS, SI, I.
- Colour
- Diamond grade from D (colourless) to Z (light yellow).
- Nakshi
- Hand-embossed relief work on gold, typical of South Indian temple jewellery.
- Kasu haram
- A necklace of gold coins, traditionally worn for weddings and festivals.
- Jhumka
- A bell-shaped dangling earring.
- Mangalsutra
- A black-beaded gold necklace worn by married women in many Indian communities.
- Vanki
- A V-shaped ring or armlet from South Indian tradition.
- Nazaria

- Rhodium plating
- A bright white finish applied to white gold to enhance shine.
- Gross weight
- Total weight including stones. Net weight is gold alone.
